My beautiful fawn boy Orinoco (first cria from Moss). It was love at first site and I have spoilt him rotten. He did brilliantly in the show ring holding his own against the big breeders and expensive imported animals. Orinoco took home a Supreme Champion sash and trophy at Westmorland Show in 2016. The build up to this moment was extremely stressful.  The running order was changed last minute, I had to run the length of the show to get back to the tent. I was ushered into the show ring then thrown out for not wearing the right coat, then back in again in a sweat. (My little Orinoco was so stressed and not presenting well to the judge. He doesn't like being handled by strangers.) The judge kindly allowed us a minute to compose ourselves and after much deliberation awarded him the prize. After which he promptly went mad, threw himself on the floor and covered his sash in mud. Big lessons learnt: never leave the alpaca tent; never let anyone else take Orinoco in the ring; never forget where you left your show coat; but most importantly, realise what an amazing thing happened and don't let anyone spoil the moment.  Orinoco's yarn is used in our knitwear. So far all his offspring are females and we are looking forward to more babies from him.
