Nora is a mini sweetheart. Like her mum, she will likely never been a big goat. When she was born she was tiny. We did not think she would survive and took her home to be tube-fed until she developed a suck reflex. After only one night of tube feeds she was up and sucking well from a bottle. She soon returned to her mum and brothers. All of our baby goats are part bottle-fed to stop their mums getting overwhelmed. That means they see us very much as family.

Goats can have a minor operation called disbudding which is taking the horn bud out at less that 7 days old. It is a difficult decision to make but because our goats do so much with children and toddlers, we generally settle on the fact that it is safest for our herd. This is strictly controlled in UK and only undertaken by experienced vets. Unfortunately, because of Nora’s mini status, she did not have a big enough head to do the operation. So Nora has horns.
